Built in 1972 with five programs, the Career Center has undergone wide-stretching remodeling and additions to wilt one of the largest secondary career and technical centers in Arkansas. The Career Center draws its 600-plus student enrollment from 11 zone upper schools in Pope, Yell and Johnson counties, including Russellville, Dover, Pottsville, Hector, Atkins, Dardanelle, Danville, Two Rivers, Western Yell County, Lamar and Clarksville upper schools. Menu Close Career CenterWell-nighUs Career Center HomeWell-nighthe Career Center Programs Faculty & Staff Participating Schools FAQ Contact Us   PROGRAMS OF STUDY AUTOMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGIES Automation Systems Technologies covers vital electrical and mechanical components of mechatronics systems with instrument controls and embedded software designs, towers and maintaining of equipment that combines electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and computer tenancy systems. LEARN MORE AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNOLOGY Automotive Technology is a two-year program that provides hands-on training and related information to repair today's upper technology vehicles. It provides job-readiness and technical skills to prepare students for employment in dealerships, specialty shops and service centers. Students train on "live projects," as well as trainer units provided by the school. LEARN MORE COMPUTER ENGINEERING/COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS The Computer Engineering/Computer Information System program at the Arkansas Tech University Career Center includes five major areas: diagnostics, operating systems, networking, on-the-job readiness and an introduction to programming. LEARN MORE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY Construction Technology at the Arkansas Tech University Career Center is a two-year program that teaches important skills in residential and industrial constructions. During the first year, students learn to operate measuring, wearing and joining equipment.The major project in the first year program is washed-up in groups, and each group builds an 8 x 12 foot storage building. Second year students build a three-bedroom house sold to the highest bidder to fund the materials for the next project. LEARN MORE CRIMINAL JUSTICE/LAW ENFORCEMENT The Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement program prepares students to perform the duties of police and public security officers, including patrol, investigative activities, traffic control, prod control, treason scene investigation and public relations.         LEARN MORE CULINARY ARTS The Culinary Arts program at the Arkansas Tech University Career Center utilizes the ProStart Program, which introduces students to careers in the hospitality industry. The goal of the program is to prepare students to be managers in hospitality settings.           LEARN MORE COSMETOLOGY Cosmetology is a fascinating career choice. It consists of learning well-nigh the superintendency of the hair, skin and nails. A student learns hairstyling, cutting, coloring, permanent waving and chemical relaxing. Students moreover learn skin care, make-up application, manicuring, pedicuring and artificial-nail application.       LEARN MORE HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY Students in this program study the human soul in both structure and function in torso and physiology. Students learn medical terminology and pathology. Second year students focus on pharmacology and phlebotomy. They study medical procedures, such as CPR and First Aid certification, infection control, patient assessment, vital signs, health superintendency technology and nursing assisting.   LEARN MORE METAL FABRICATION The Metal Fabrication program at the Arkansas Tech University Career Center is designed to provide skills in the areas of cutting, shaping, fastening and joining metal to industry standards. Our program uses as its curriculum the NCCER's "SENSE" program in order to ensure students meet industry standards. Students who well-constructed this two-year undertow will be worldly-wise to read blueprints, do layouts and cut and weld metal. The metal-working industry utilizes plasma arc cutters, shield metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and tungsten inert gas welding.
